The Cultural Wedding

The Nikah.

So the main thingy of the trip is actually the wedding. I was informed that it's actually just a simple family and close friends affair. I got to say the preparation here are very different. They have no 'mak andam' here but my cousin hired a makeup artist just to do her make up. So who's doing the hair then? It's me...

I feel really scared honestly to agree doing my cousin hair for her wedding, I mean, it's a wedding and she must look exceptionally fabulous on her big day and I'm afraid I might make her look like a heck! But the greatest thing is, kak Wiyah hair is long and easy to work with, so I didn't have any problem with it.

I didn't really snapped alot of picture for the wedding, I left it to my bro-in-law to do it because I've take care the bride the whole time to ensure she stays and look good at every moment. So anyway, here are some of the pic's I have..

That's me and Kak Wiyah, She look classy ey.. (:

So that's Serhat and Kak Wiyah which is officially Mr & Mrs Erkinci.

They just look so good together.

The nikah here is very different from Singapore. The procedure in Singapore is like the Kadi and the groom have to have their hands firmly grip and then the kadi will say those things and the groom will repeat what the kadi mentioned, while here in London is like, the groom will just have to answer yes or no to the kadi question and also there were no hand shake at all and then finally they were pronounced husband and wife.

Serhat, my cousin-in-law is actually a Turkish, so everything here is not like the malay procedure of nikah where the groom and bride actually exchange gift on trays. He just have to give my cousin dowry and that's all.

That's Sean and me in our Malay Traditional outfit.

The Wedding.

So just now, was actually the civil ceremony. I was again given the most heaviest responsibility which is to do the bridal bouquet and to decorate the wedding cake! Things were crazy eventhough I manage to get help from my sister, because we had little resources to work with. But in the end, everything turn out well. And then, I was rushed to get my cousin hair done and you could actually see the imperfection below.

Here are all of us and them wearing the songket outfit.

The Erkinci's during the Chinese tea Ceremony. (Saw the bouquet? It's done by me!)

So the wedding is held at this very English hall looking with antic chandeliers hanging above and paintings over the walls which it uber cool. The theme of the wedding is more to cultural because both of the newly weds come from different cultural background where Kak Wiyah has malay and chinese genes running in her while Serhat is Turkish himself and both of the are influence by the western culture. So they decide to have 4 different type of wedding all in one evening! And glad to say, everything turn out well.

In Turkish traditional wear.

The Final outfit.

Looking very perfect and taking their first dance as husband and wife.
